Dorm tour, Kat Lee

I’m so excited to share today’s guest post by Kat! I know that this will be such a treat for those of you reading from the Bryn Mawr community because Kat is basically a campus celebrity; she’s [probably] Bryn Mawr College’s official Instagram‘s most regrammed account (I haven’t counted, but I’m 95% confident with this statement). For Instagram enthusiasts at Bryn Mawr College, having your photo regrammed by the college’s official Instagram is pretty much the greatest accomplishment ever. I’ve had the honor of appearing on their feed thrice (here, here, here, and yes, I am keeping track).

A few of you have asked me to make a post giving you a tour of my dorm room. Contrary to what my Pinterest might lead you to believe, I do not have a knack for interior decorating. Last year I left my half of the dorm room virtually empty and mooched off my roomie’s crafting skills, but this year I’m determined to personalize my room and add some homely touches. I had planned to get it all done over fall break, but it seems that I am forever running behind schedule. So today I’ve invited Kat to share her [Pinterest/Instagram/Tumblr-worthy] space to give you an idea of a Bryn Mawr College dorm.

Laundry // 39&40×52

There’s a lot going on right now. Maybe that’s why we like to organize things, to give the illusion that we have our lives together, that everything is fine. The messier the mind, the cleaner the room.

I go downstairs to do the laundry I’ve neglected for almost two weeks. 23 minutes in the washer. The cycle begins and the machine starts spinning. 60 minutes in the dryer. The cycle begins and the machine starts spinning. The steady whir hums away. When it’s done, my clothes are as good as new.

If only everything was as easy to fix.

Birthday surprise // 35×52

I don’t like advertising my birthday, because after the congratulations, people always ask, “Are you doing anything special today?” I recall a year or two ago one of my irl friends said, “We’re all looking forward to see what you do for your birthday on your blog!” and on the outside I was like 😀 because I still get the warm fuzzies when friends tell me they read my blog, but in my head I was like, oh no.

Brecon all the records // 34×52 mornings

If you wake up early enough, with the sun still making its way through the sky, you might be able to hike from Brecon to the main campus without breaking a sweat. It’s quieter than most mornings because not everyone has arrived yet. Just working students, fall athletes, and the Dorm Leadership Team (DLT).

Year one complete // 19×52

Today is my last Sunday at Bryn Mawr this school year! Next week I’ll be at Young Life Lake Champion in New York for Chapter Camp, and the one after that I’ll be back in Beijing. I feel like I’ve been here in Bryn Mawr for forever, but at the same time it feels like no time has passed.
