Memorial Day Weekend

June 1, 2016

I didn’t have any plans for Memorial Day Weekend except to bum around in my apartment, hide from the heat, and binge read, so when Jennifer invited me to spend the weekend at her apartment in the city, I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity for a staycation. Now I could bum around in her apartment, hide from the heat, and binge read! Haha just kidding. The sad truth was that my shower still wasn’t cleaned, the gym would be closed for Memorial Day Weekend, and Julia wasn’t going to be around to swipe me into the campus dorms for their showers ಥ_ಥ The happy truth is that now I’d be spending all weekend with the fantastic human being that is Jennifer ⁽(◍˃̵͈̑ᴗ˂̵͈̑)⁽ and also use her shower !(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

Kickboxing at UFC Gym

May 25, 2016

So yeah, I did that. Li’l ol’ me. Finally. I’ve talked about wanting to do it for so long. Since high school. I said once I retired from competitive swimming, I’d take up kickboxing. Alas, I never did get around to that. Until now. I finally did it.

Breaking up with social media, Kat Lee

April 6, 2016

I have a love-hate relationship with social media, but as a blogger, it’s almost unthinkable to not have social media. I mean, it’s all part of the job, right? It’s all about connecting with our readers, with our community, creating a wholesome experience from Facebook to Instagram to Pinterest to Tumblr to Twitter. Blogs that blog about blogging blog about how to use social media. People hire coaches to learn how to create an image (brand) across their different social media platforms.

Then I read Alexandra Franzen‘s post about why she doesn’t use social media anymore and her follow-up post about how it’s possible to run a business without using social media, and I realized that breaking up with social media could be a possibility, even with a blog to run.

Six weeks ago on Wednesday, February 24, Kat texted me and said she’d deactivated her Facebook and handed her Instagram account over to a friend who changed her password, which left her only with texting and Snapchat. And if you know Kat AKA Bryn Mawr College Instagram Queen, you’d know that this would be a big change for her. But it’s been six weeks, and I’m happy to report that she’s alive and well and here on the blog today to share ten things she’s learned whilst away from social media.

I also have a little announcement at the end.

“Blogmas” 2015

December 26, 2015

The last few months of the year are the frickin’ best. Blink. It’s Halloween. Blink. It’s Thanksgiving. Blink. It’s Christmas (at least for me). Blink. It’s the New Year. This year I wanted to join everyone in spreading the holiday cheer, specifically by giving a go at blogmas, but with finals going on in the middle of all this, I wasn’t sure. I knew I wouldn’t be able to blog every single day without committing academic suicide, but I still wanted to try something. Georgina suggested posting a picture a day on Instagram, but I’m a little anal about my feed. So I found a middle ground and decided upon taking an iPhone photo a day from Dec. 1 to 25, and then sharing it all in one festive post on my blog. Here it is!

Oh, and there’s a happy little announcement at the end of this post 😉

Purple stained ears

December 14, 2015

double piercing

In fifth grade I got red highlights. Tenth grade I dip-dyed my tips. Twelfth grade I dyed my whole head a light brown. This pink-purple-blue-grey gradient is by far the most fun I’ve had with my hair yet.

I’ve been wanting to do a bold colour for awhile, but maintenance held me back. Now that I’m no longer competitively swimming, I decided that it was time to go for it, because I’d no longer have to worry about chlorine doing weird things to it (ah, the nightmare of poop green or plaque yellow hair).

June 29, 2015

Awhile ago I decided that I wasn’t going to apologize for belated posts anymore, otherwise I’d be apologizing at the beginning of every post, and that’s tiring for both me to write and you to read. But today I want to acknowledge it. This post is a week late and was supposed to be about my afternoon at Maan Coffee cafe with my dad and youngest brother (don’t worry, you’ll hear about that later).
