This summer I will maybe hopefully…

June 9, 2015

My summer break basically started May 8 after finals, officially started May 16 after graduation (not mine, I still have three more years), but didn’t really start until May 23 after the retreat. Now I’m 18 days into summer break and I’ve managed to do… nothing. Meanwhile, many of my friends are working, a fact my parents never cease to remind me about. I really did want to apply for an internship or job for the summer, but I didn’t have a resume, at least not one updated since the one I sent off for my college application, and I really did want to put together an updated version, but it didn’t cross my mind until later on when I also had to worry about summer storage, my Chinese visa, and the dreaded finals. I didn’t have very much time to WRITE UP MY RESUME, so that’ll be first on my summer bucket list:

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

December 25, 2014

So I was thinking of doing a backwards blogmas (starting Dec 25 in a twelve-days-of-Christmas-esque style), but I realized that everyone else was doing the exact opposite–apparently the holidays is a time to spend offline with family(???)–so that idea has been put on hold, indefinitely. (But in all seriousness, unplug for a bit and hang out with the people who love you most.) (Come back to this post tomorrow, as you lie in bed at the end of the day, during your spare time, or while you poo.) (Yeah, I’m very serious.)

random plug: posted this image on my instagram and my college regrammed it. *proud*

mom: why do people even like this [picture]? the color. so old.

My Christmas was more untraditional than usual (my family isn’t all that traditional in the first place). I woke up early, but everyone else was still asleep, so I spent my morning killing time surfing the web, but there wasn’t much to surf, because everyone else in the world was busy doing traditional Christmas stuff like opening presents and interacting with people. Or something.

It turns out I woke up too early and ended up crashing around midday, but I woke up in time for dinner, AKA the highlight of my day. For dessert we had green tea pudding topped with red bean (festively colored) and red bean soup with sago. And afterwards I got my daily dose of bubble milk tea. Peace.

My evening concludes with some blog catch-up…
…and an at-home karaoke session with my mom consisting only of “You Raise Me Up.”

Nothing extravagant, but I like it this way. I’m not too big on celebrations. (High school graduation was one of the most fake and depressing events I endured.) This is my family, and it’s the little things that make us who we are, it’s the little things that we remember, it’s the little things that matter the most.

BUT to satisfy those of you merry makers, check out the festivities over at The Londoner, Making Magique, and Wish, Wish, Wish. I can’t wait to read everyone’s post-Christmas posts!

How did you spend this lovely day?

Bryn Mawr Day

September 13, 2014

Bryn Mawr Day was actually last Saturday on September 6, but I didn’t get around to writing this post–or doing anything blog-related really–until now. Quoting The Script’s “Breakeven”, I’m still alive but I’m barely breathin’ haha. I really am enjoying my time here at Bryn Mawr College, have been trying to get around, meet people, join clubs, do homework, and get sleep, because it’s really hard to get hyped up about something when you’re devoting all your energy to keeping your eyelids up. For the most part, I’ve managed to sleep before midnight, but what I have not managed to do was keep up with my blog, not to mention the rest of the blogosphere.

Legal!

August 31, 2014

At the beginning of summer break, I made an A to Z summer bucket list inspired by Rainy London and gave myself until my eighteenth birthday (today, whoop whoop!) to see how far I’ve gotten.

Today is a good day to have a good day

August 28, 2014

I’m the kind of person who writes down her whole life in her planner (I just got a new Lilly Pulitzer large agenda day planner orange grove monkeys 2014-15 and I adore it!!), from my homework to appointments to blog post ideas. I have countdowns and am always looking forward to the future, which is great, but on the other hand, waiting and waiting can sometimes make me bored of present life. Stop living with the mindset that tomorrow will be better. Why not let the best day be today? Instead of thinking about what you want life to be like in the future, live in the present, get lost in the moment, and enjoy what you have!

Goodbye Beijing

August 20, 2014

My last night in Beijing was spent binge watching Once Upon a Time until I finished season two at five in the morning. I only stopped because I realized that I should probably start packing for my flight that was leaving in twelve hours. There is a method to my madness. You see, staying up until five in the morning in Beijing time is staying up until five in the evening in USA east coast time—getting a head start to overcoming jet-lag, overachieving already.

Hey there!

Catch me burrowed in a book with some boba on hand. My life is pretty average, but it’s the little things that count, right? Thanks for stopping by! -Audrey
