Netflix, sweater, salmon – 51/52 :)

December 19, 2016

Winter break has just barely started and I can already feel myself losing my circadian rhythm. I kicked off this weekend with lots of Netflix. And I am completely okay with this. At least for the first few days of break. Then hopefully with the rest of it I’ll be really productive blog-wise and catch up with independent reading and maybe experiment with some computer science projects.

When this post goes live, I’ll probably be in the air on my my flight to Beijing to see my family for winter break. I’m not sure where exactly in my itinerary I’ll be at when this post goes live because I’m too lazy to figure out all the time zones. Hopefully I’ll figure out a way to keep up with blogging and social media while I’m behind the Great Firewall of China, but worst case scenario, I have blog posts queued up. See you on the other side!

Bad photos, good friends // Secret Santa

December 17, 2016

These are terrible photos that I don’t think I can even pass off as #grunge, I don’t have anything #deep to say about them, and there wasn’t even a distinct chronology to the party that I could walk you through, but it was a happy night between friends that I don’t want to forget. So here is a post for me.

DIY reusable Soylent bottle

December 14, 2016

I’m not always crafty, but when I am, I blog about it. Nobody would ever need this or want this, but I think it’s funny, so humour me. Maybe if I gave you a little context, you might find it a little funny.

Remember my first hackathon with Kevin, Kyu, and Saleh at MIT? Well, at the end of that, Saleh left with like ten bottles of Soylent, and Kyu now has a monthly subscription. He keeps his empty Soylent bottles displayed on a shelf in his dorm room, much like the typical college student might have a display of empty bottles of alcohol. Seeing Kyu stumbling around like a zombie with a bottle of Soylent in his hands is a more common occurrence than you would think, or so his roomies update me.

Now Kyu also has a white S’well water bottle that he carries around everywhere, and one day I came up with this genius idea: jazz up his white S’well water bottle to look like a Soylent bottle. Alas, he wouldn’t let me do it, and I wasn’t about to buy a new white S’well water bottle to bring my idea to life for him, but when I drew his name for Secret Santa, I had the perfect excuse to. He’ll probably never use this bottle because he has a perfectly normal white S’well water bottle, but I’m so proud of myself and maybe he’ll think it’s funny. At the very least, I think it’s funny and that’s all that matters in the end, right?

CDs, chocolate, gifts – 50/52 :)

December 12, 2016

With nothing on my schedule this week except for studying, I’m feeling comfortable, chill even. But I gotta keep up the intensity and make sure that I don’t forget to turn everything in before winter break starts on Friday! My motto of the week has to be DELAYED GRATIFICATION. In other news, I started and finished the new season of Gilmore Girls on Saturday. #teamJess

Autumn

December 7, 2016

Like my good friend Stephanie said, “Why are we having four seasons in one day??” I think that’s a pretty accurate description of the weather right now. But in between Mother Nature’s mood swings, I’ve gotten a taste of autumn here and there, and it tastes golden. All that’s left to do is to spice it with some pumpkins and good friends.

Rice, rain, mail – 49/52 :)

December 5, 2016

This coming week will probably be busy with impending due dates, but this past week wasn’t so bad, so maybe this coming week won’t be either. Almost there! Just one more week of classes + one week of finals, then I’m off to Beijing for winter break. It seems like I’m not capable of focusing on anything other than countdowns these days!

Catch me burrowed in a book with some boba on hand. My life is pretty average, but it’s the little things that count, right? Thanks for stopping by! -Audrey
