Burgers, cake, brunch – 25/52 :)

June 20, 2016

I’ve been loving Mondays. Mondays over summer break mean that I have a whole week ahead of me to do awesome things. Fridays over summer break mean, oh gosh, we’re getting closer to the end of summer break, and I am not ready for that yet! Mondays during the school year meant that I had a whole week I needed to get through. Fridays during the school year meant freedom at last. Once school starts again, I hope that I’m able to keep up my summer attitude. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves; there’s still summer break ahead of us! In other news, I’ve finished Seasons 1-5 of Downton Abbey and I need to figure out how to obtain Season 6.

Living off my reserves | Checking in

June 17, 2016

I’ve recently finished reading It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be by Paul Arden. It’s a short, quick, concise advice book with strong ideas that tells you how he sees it, and one message (of many) really jumped out at me:

2015 Reading Challenge

June 15, 2016

Yes, it’s mid-2016, but lately I’ve been doing a lot of reading and have been reading a lot of good stuff but haven’t been able to keep up with sharing them on the blog except for cramming them into my weekly Happy Lists, so I’ve been rethinking what I want my book blog category to be like, and I have this terrible affliction in which I like to start things from the very beginning, which for me is from 2015 when I first started doing the Goodreads Reading Challenges.

Shows, doughnuts, eggs – 24/52 :)

I’m starting to warm up to my summer apartment. The bathroom is still a mess, but everything else isn’t too bad. The living room is a little empty, which is only emphasized by the floor-to-ceiling sliding door/window to the balcony, but I kind of like the empty space. It’s just begging for a night of sitting on the ground eating pizza even though I have a perfectly good dining table the next room over. Also, the acoustics are great, and how magical is it to strum away on the guitar right before a huge window in an apartment I have all to myself? This week has been low key.

Magic Gardens

Fall break last year meant a lot to me; it was the first break of my college experience. Fall break is at an interesting time. The year feels like it has just begun and you’re still feeling your way through. As a first-year, you might be feeling homesick at this time. Maybe you live close enough to go back. And maybe you don’t and campus feels empty and you’re not sure what to do or where to go or who to hang out with. So it meant a lot to me when I found myself in Princeton visiting old (high school) friends and then found myself in New York City with new (college) friends.

You’d think that I wouldn’t have to worry about that now as a sophomore. I’ve had a year’s worth of experience, I’ve settled in, and I’ve found my people. Except that my people all went home for fall break and I was here on campus. Which I don’t really mind, but it just brought to light how much time I spend with them, and without them, sometimes I’m not sure what to do with my time myself.

Kitchen, loaf, pudding – 23/52 :)

June 6, 2016

Follow me on Spotify! Right now I have four playlists, though they are a bit bare at the moment, so forgive me: mellow/chillstep, upbeat/mainstream, background, unsorted. It’s taken me awhile to jump onto the bandwagon because I didn’t get how to use it and I still don’t really, but I’ve been making myself use it instead of 8tracks or Pandora like I usually do, so hopefully I’ll catch on. Spotify isn’t the most user-friendly platform and connectivity can sometimes be spotty (or maybe that’s just me) and if I have to listen to another Febreze ad I think I’m going to stab something, but people use it and I like listening to music other people discover. Music makes me happy, and finding new music makes me happier, which is why I usually add a “currently listening to” at the end of my happy lists. What have you been listening to?
